Learning Made Awesome!
Welcome to Rufus Resolves
After years of teaching Psychology, I've seen first-hand how challenging research methods can be for students. Success in research methods isn't about memorising definitions. It's about helping students make sense of concepts that can feel abstract, understanding how they relate to one another, and developing the confidence to select, justify and apply the most appropriate ideas to unfamiliar scenarios.
That's why I created Rufus Resolves.
The Resolve Toolkit is a growing collection of classroom-ready resources designed to make research methods more engaging, accessible and memorable. Every resource has been created and refined in real classrooms, drawing on examiner guidance and classroom experience to help students develop the understanding, confidence and application skills that lead to success.
Whether you're introducing the topic for the first time, revisiting challenging concepts or preparing students for exams, my aim is simple: to save teachers time while giving students the tools to think more confidently about research methods.
Why Rufus?
Rufus is my one-year-old labradoodle, and watching him grow has been a daily reminder that learning starts with curiosity. Whether he's investigating a new smell, tracking down a missing sock or proudly rediscovering a long-forgotten tennis ball, he's always trying to make sense of the world around him.
That curiosity inspired the name Rufus Resolves—and the belief that the best learning happens when students are encouraged to explore, ask questions and understand not just what the right answer is, but why it's the right one.
If these resources help students approach research methods with greater confidence—and make teaching it just that little bit easier—then Rufus and I have done our job.
Happy teaching!
